Grapefrute

Kathy Minnick Drums
Lisa Ruth Guitar, Bass, Vocals
Matt Sommers Guitar, Bass, Vocals

Active: 1992 - 2006
Location: Indianapolis, IN

Notes: Grapefrute began when Lisa answered Matt's ad for musicians wanted in Nuvo Newsweekly. They shared the same twisted sense of humor and made many hilarious recordings of extemporaneous material. The two quickly recruited drummer Kathy from Lisa's other band, Milton Street, and began playing gigs. They performed at the Outback, Tomorrow's, and the first Rock the Ripple music festival in Broad Ripple. The trio recorded demos in Matt's home studio and captured a few live performances on tape. Grapefrute was put on extended hiatus when Lisa moved to Chicago in 1996. Matt and Lisa continued to make music over the years (see artist entry "Lisa Ruth"). Grapefrute reunited in 2004 to re-record a couple of old tunes, and again in 2006 to write the epic "3 Ships" for a video soundtrack.
