Ritual
Artist: M. Sommers
Year: 1999
Notes: As the title reflects, I was starting to get bored with the whole loop & sample way of making music. As a response, I began integrating acoustic sounds into the mix. Electronic sounds are paired with acoustic guitars, real drums and percussion is combined with drum machines and found sounds. Beachboy Al Jardine asked me to remix a live cut from "The Beachboys Family and Friends" tour. I've included that final mix of "Shut it down" (featuring Carnie & Wendy Wilson), as well as the backing instrumental score. This effort also contains a soundtrack I wrote for the Bill Meyers film "Family Values". A remix of "Hypnotized" (from "God is a Virus") with vocals by Jason Hendrickson (and some unidentified rapper) rounds out the album.
