Tiny Sounds
Artist: M. Sommers
Year: 2005
Notes: A true breakthrough. A dawning realization that I could make music with almost anything inspired this creative effort. I started making compositions that raised the bar of what I thought I could do. Each song came quickly and was drastically different from the previous. Complete rock songs organically grew from nothing ("Johnspencerdavis", "Just like that" and "Drum test with kitty"). An entire soundscape, made using only the contents of the junk drawer, became an epic overture. Jeff Sample gave me a box of old weird cassettes. Snippets from those tapes appear throughout ("Fools" and "Love ya"). One tape even contained Jeff's grandfather singing ("The land of the cloudless day"). This collection began a four album streak of wild creativity with found sounds.
